Following the successful introduction of our new Hand Embroidery: Skills and Studies course in Durham, we are pleased to offer taster days for the course Online. During the day students will have the opportunity to stitch four sampler squares each exploring a key embroidery technique which will give them a taste of what is offered on the full course. Students will explore bullion and French knots using different colours and fibres to create texture and impact, build trellis patterns in surface embroidery and learn traditional couching including curves and turns.

This is a Taster Day for the Hand Embroidery: Skills and Studies.

Join professional embroidery tutor Amanda Rymel from The Royal School of Needlework for our latest hand sewing workshop and be introduced to the fascinating world of beaded embroidery.

In this relaxed evening session you’ll learn how stitch a small 3cm circular brooch using a combination of embroidery stitches, sequins, and beads.

During the class Amanda will teach you some simple bead embroidery techniques and explore sequin and bead placement, so that you’re able to create and finish your very own beautiful beaded brooch.

Inspired by the elegance of a 1920’s compact mirror discovered at an antiques market in the Cotswolds, this radiant peacock design is a celebration of colour, shine, and decorative detail.

In this immersive live class, you’ll stitch a beautifully stylised peacock using lustrous DeVere silk threads and shimmering Gutermann metallic threads, carefully chosen to create exceptional depth and light-catching brilliance.

Throughout the course, you’ll be gently guided through the art of Silk Shading using long and short stitch, learning how to blend colours seamlessly to achieve soft transitions, dimension, and movement.
